The ever so RUDE NEIGHBOR

I was leaving for the store the other day, and Morgan was in the van with me. I saw a  guy that lives a few doors down and he was walking his dog as he does, everyday. As he approached my house, he allowed his dog to walk up into my yard, poop, and then spin out with his feet for fifteen seconds and  tear up my grass. As Morgan and I sat at the stop sign looking over to him, I was in complete disgust. I thought "OK, I know he is a dog, and I have no problem if he poops in my yard and he picks it up, as he did. However, he continued to sit and watch him tear into my grass as if it was "OK."  I really didn't know what to do except one thing. I rolled Morgan's window down, I said "Excuse me, sir" he said
"Yes" I said "Can you please not let your dog come up into my yard by my shrubs and tear up my grass" He said, "Oh, it's OK Mam, he is just cleaning off the bottom of his feet"  Are you kidding me right now?  I said politely, "It's my yard sir, and I would really appreciate it if you wouldn't allow your dog to come up into my yard and tear it up."He said "Mam, it's no different than what a rake does to a yard" I kinda just sat there in disbelief that I was actually debating this with someone I shouldn't have been wasting my time with. I said to him "I do not care if that is what a rake does, this is my yard and if you want to let him poop and tear up a yard, take him to your own yard" at this point I was just flabbergasted by his actions towards me and I was speechless beyond that point. He said, "Mam, you made your point so go on now, A**hole" At that point, My thirteen year old daughter was sitting there and of course how rude and inconsiderate can some people really be? I drove away thinking, wow, I can't believe that just happened.

I called Jon on the phone and he was on his way home from work and I explained the situation to him and told him he was at the park now. He said, "are you sure it's the guy with the red retriever?" I said "Yes,babe It is." He was so upset that I guess he made it home from work in 7 minutes when it usually takes about 15. As he entered the neighborhood, the guy was gradually making his way back to his house and Jon flew in and pulled his jeep up to the curb. ( I was kinda glad I wasn't here at this moment of time) He jumped out of his jeep and said "Excuse me, Sir" the man said "How can I help you" Jon said "are you or are you not the gentleman that stopped by my house the other day as I was pruning my tree's and chatted with me? He said, "Why yes, I do believe that was me"  Jon said "did you not say to me that the good Lord takes care of your trees for you now because you can't do them anymore" and did I maybe mistake you for a christian at that time? The man said "Um,um, well yes, I would say that I am a christian, yes sir" Jon then said "Then what gave you the right to call my wife a curse word in front of our 14 year old daughter?" I do not believe there is anything christian about that. Jon said the guy started stumbling over his words and tried to say he called his dog the curse word, and as Jon decided to get back in his jeep, he looked at the guy and said "do me a favor, please do not ever step foot back on our property again not you or your dog, and oh by the way, I will pray for you" He got in his jeep and drove into the driveway. Are neighbors really that rude, self centered and selfish?

I am off to finish packing for a much needed mountain vacation, which we are headed out to tonight at midnight. A funny thought to end this with..Braden saw the luggage topper on top of the van today when we were headed to the park to play some baseball..He looked at me and said "Oh, you put that on there for us to have a hot tub in the mountains, that's a cool idea" All I could do was just laugh, and I said "No Braden, that is a luggage topper for daddy to put all of our luggage in so when we go to the mountains tonight" and he said "Oh yeah, duh, I get it now."

Thanks for stopping by, will have some great pics to post soon of the mountains!

  1. Some people can be so thoughtless and rude. It's discouraging that a man would respond in such a way to you. But, I bet Jon's talk with him made an impression on him. At least let's hope so!
